Making Play Accessible For Every Child
We are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all families and children of all abilities.
Resource Kits
Drawstring backpacks that contain a pair of headphones, a social story, communication cards and a fidget toy to help our guests have the best possible experience while visiting the Museum.
Quiet Room
A quiet room to take a break from the rest of the Museum is available. This space has adjustable lighting, comfortable seating, books, puzzles and some fidget toys to support our guests’ experience in this space.
Sensory- Friendly Sessions
We understand a visit to the Museum can present challenges for some families. Our Sensory-Friendly Sessions allow children to enjoy our Museum experience in a calmer, quieter space. These sessions take place on the second and fourth Sunday of every month and provide opportunities to navigate social situations, encourage peer-to-peer interaction and develop confidence through open play and facilitated programming. The Museum may welcome trusted community partners to visit to provide resources and answer questions.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The Museum is wheelchair-accessible with an elevator at ground level. Some exhibits may not be wheelchair-accessible. A limited number of wheelchairs are available to borrow at the Information Desk.
Nursing Nook
An enclosed, private nursing nook is available for use.
